GRIGORIEV Sergei Alexeevich
Born July 5 1910, Lughansk, Ukraine. Died 1988, Kiev.
One of the Soviet Union's most prolific artists. Awarded the coveted Stalin Prize in 1951 for "Discussion of a poor mark". Works featured in all major national collections of Ukraine as well as Moscow Tretyakov Gallery and National Gallery of Bulgaria. Famous internationally for his "genre" canvases and his portraits. 1923-26 studied at Zaporizhya School of Professional Arts. 1928-32 studied at Kiev State Art Institute. Appointed assistant professor of KSAI in 1934. Became professor of KSOA in 1947. 1950 wins State Award for "The Gatekeeper" and "Admission to Komsomol". 1951 became National Artist of the USSR. 1958 elected as permanent member of USSR Academy of Art. Created and directed department of contemporary art where he taught until his death.

KRAVTSOV Nikolai Feidorovich
Born 29 October 1934, Alekseyeva-Orlovka, Schakhtyarsky Region, Donetsk. Died 1980.
Studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Art College 1953-58 under supervision of G. Kryzhevskiy. Work closely associated with Donetsk region of S.E. Ukraine. 1968 became member of the USSR Artists Union. As an artist he traveled widely in the Soviet Union drawing his creative inspiration from his contacts with the people and the landscapes of the Soviet Motherland. He worked principally in the Donetsk region but also depicted life and scenes from the Crimea, the Caucasus, Siberia and Central Russia. He died in 1980 while working with a croup of artists in the Zhdanovskaya Kapitalnaya mine. Collections: private and museum collections in Ukraine and private collections abroad.

Ostrovsky Republic Prize". 1970-1988 Member of international artists organisation "USSR-Czechoslovakia". 1970-1990 Member of Donbass artists union. 1989 Chairman of the Board of the Ukraine Artists Union - Donetsk region, Secretary of the Ukraine Artists Union. 1995 Awarded state honours for cultural achievement.
Participated in over 100 international, national and regional exhibitions. Canvases form part of public collections in more than 20 national and overseas galleries and are held in private collections in more than 30 countries.
